Our Vision

To Glorify God by Becoming Disciples Who Know and Live God’s Will

Discipleship. From the very beginning of His ministry, Jesus’ desire was not to surround Himself with those who were simply “followers,” but rather “disciples,” individuals who were committed to seeking and integrating God’s will into their every fiber of their being (or as the Bible describes it, with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength – Mark 12:30).

Jesus seeks disciples. True, this requires a radical level of commitment that involves prayer, the study of scripture, the building of relationships (both with God and one another), worship, and reaching out to a spiritually needy world, all of which are experienced as we integrate the truths of scripture into every dimension of our lives. Yet the rewards of this adventure are both eternal and immediate as we discover the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control God desires for those who have given, truly given, their lives to Him.

At Calvary, though our ultimate goal is to glorify God through an eternal relationship with Him, our earthly goal is “transformation” such that our words, thoughts, and actions increasingly line up with God’s will for our lives and for the world. To that end, it is our goal to filter every dimension of our congregational life through the lens of discipleship to ensure that we are being true to the call God has given our church.

We know that authentic discipleship is not an easy endeavor in today’s culture, but we also know that the earthly and eternal rewards are unequaled. So, if you’re looking for a church where you can live your life as a passive observer rather than as an active follower of Jesus, or where it’s more important for you to be in control than in obedient submission to God’s will, then Calvary probably is not the right fit for you.

However, if you seek a dynamic adventure where each day holds the potential for an increasingly deeper understanding of who God is and who He desires you to be in your life, then Calvary may be exactly the place He is calling you to!
